SPED International Secondary School was originally known as Federal College of Education (Special) Staff Secondary School at its inception in June, 1993. The Secondary School was an off shoot of the Staff Nursery/Primary School, which was established in 1985/1986 academic session.
The Secondary School took off officially in 1994/1995 academic session with three arms of Junior Secondary School students of 60 boys and 42 girls. The pioneer staffs were Mr. S. S. Agbelusi as Principal while Mr. D. O. Itanola, Mr. I. A. Raji and Miss S. A. Adetunji were tutors.

To become a centre of academic excellence that will instill education and moral values in incoming generation of youths in the state and the nation at large.
